Delivering the Local Buying Program in partnership with BHP, across BHP Minerals Australia asset footprints.

About us

C-Res was established in 2012 to ensure the successful and transparent delivery of the BMA Local Buying Program and now continues to deliver the Local Buying Program (LBP) and administer the Local Buying Foundation (LBF) for BHP. C-Res is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day deliverables of the Program including liaising with local suppliers and BHP, BMA and BMC employees who use the LBP. In addition, C-Res has dedicated Business Development Advisors located throughout the regions who are responsible for the ongoing support, engagement and mentoring of Suppliers registered with the Program. C-Res also have experienced Program Administrators to manage all transactional activities through the Program. The LBP is a targeted program providing procurement opportunities for small, local and Indigenous businesses, with annual turnover less than AU$10M and who have a significant physical presence in the eligible regions surrounding BHP Operations. These businesses have the opportunity to competitively supply goods and services via the Program to BHP Minerals Australia Assets in their state. Building on local capabilities and opportunities for growth in current and emerging industries, the LBF supports projects and programs which facilitate workforce development, innovation, and the productive capacity of business and industry to grow the potential of their regional economies. The LBF is a key element to the Local Buying Program, delivered in partnership between BHP and C-Res in the local footprints where BHP Minerals Australia operates in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, and Western Australia.

NiW NEWS | No pressure as BHP leads the way for local procurement Sean Davis, from Under Pressure Contracting had done some research into becoming a vendor for several mining companies and found it to be an incredibly long and difficult process. The BHP Local Buying Program was the fastest and easiest way to become a supplier to BHP or any company/site he had ever experienced. “We really rely on Under Pressure. When we need a vac truck out here it’s always urgent and they are very prompt, flexible and responsive to emergency work. They always carry out the job safely and responsibly and having them local and close by is so advantageous.” Barry Dixon | Concentrator Operations Manager, BHP Kambalda Read more here 👉 bit.ly/4axMbkB #localbuyingprogram #supportlocalbusiness #bhp #keepitlocal #regional #smallbusinessbigdreams #nickelwest #goldfields #brightspot #socialvalues #bhpkambalda

5 DAYS OF INSPIRATIONAL WOMEN | TRACEY CUTTRISS-SMITH For International Women’s Day we are celebrating the people in our teams that inspire us and embody this year’s #IWD2024 theme #InspireInclusion - imagine a world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. ⭐ Tracey Cuttriss-Smith ⭐   When we think about this year’s IWD theme, inspiring inclusion, we reflect on the fact that C-Res was founded with the vision of seeing greater economic participation and inclusion for small, local and Indigenous businesses.   Tracey, as CEO, has grown C-Res from a two-person operation in Queensland in 2012, to a national organisation of 30+ staff, which has facilitated over $1B of BHP work packages directly to small businesses along with over $12M into business development programs through the Local Buying Foundation. As a wife and mother who has raised her now-adult children throughout this time, Tracey is a shining success story of the family-career-leadership balance that women face. Not only has she navigated this herself, but she also has paved the way for her staff to have this balance and to achieve their goals – through growing and mentoring leaders, through championing flexible work arrangements, and through being an example of constant personal growth and continuous improvement.   When asked what inclusion means to her, Tracey said “Inclusion to me is actively seeking to uncover everyone’s potential and remove barriers that are preventing that potential being reached. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with the most amazing people who have strengthened my values and sense of belonging. I am thankful to now be in a position where I can influence the future generation to embrace and promote inclusivity in their lives and workplace.”   We thank you Tracey for what you have achieved for women, for your teams, and for our local communities.

MACKAY QLD | CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2024 | #InspireInclusion The Local Buying Foundation is honoured to be supporting International Women’s Day events right across our regions.   In QLD, Local Buying Foundation sponsorship enabled students from 11 schools within Mackay and Moranbah to attend the Resource Industry Network International Women’s Day lunch this week in Mackay. Why? Because investing in our future leaders is crucial. We believe in empowering the next generation of trailblazers and change-makers, and what better way to do that than by giving them a seat at the table? By providing these students with the opportunity to attend, we're opening doors, sparking inspiration, and fostering a community where their voices are heard and valued. Let's celebrate the potential, creativity, and brilliance of our youth as we celebrate International Women's Day together! 🌍👩🎓 #IWD2024 #InternationalWomensDay #EmpowerYouth #FutureLeaders

5 DAYS OF INSPIRATIONAL PEOPLE | JOHN AURISCH Leading up to International Women’s Day we are celebrating the people in our teams that inspire us and embody this year’s #IWD2024 theme #InspireInclusion - imagine a world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. ⭐ John Aurisch ⭐ John is a champion of women and of inclusion. When we think about this year’s IWD theme, inspiring inclusion, this concept goes beyond women empowering other women - (as vital as this is) - and extends to people such as John supporting women at all stages of their careers, and actively inspiring inclusion for all. John has been the C-Res Business Development Manager since 2019, now General Manager. In this time, John has led successful teams of predominately women. The women in his team say that John ensures they are valued and heard, fosters work-life balance, and actively empowers their career development. When asked what inclusion means to him, John said “Inclusion isn’t down to one person or any one organisation, but we are all responsible for making this a priority. It’s about actively creating equitable environments, caring about people and their needs as individuals, and harnessing our collective strengths to work together. “Differences – be it gender, or any other difference - don’t divide us, they make us all stronger. I have found that in my teams, if people feel safe and valued and are given the opportunity to shine in their areas of strength, they rise to the challenge and excel.”

A world where difference is valued and celebrated.   ⭐ Kelly Cooke ⭐   Kelly is the C-Res, National Indigenous Business Development Principal.   Kelly is a proud Noongar woman born and raised on Binjareb Country in the South West of WA.   Kelly has been a member of the C-Res team for two years, working closely with over 400 Indigenous businesses across the Local Buying Program regions to understand their needs, challenges, and individuality. She liaises closely with BHP’s Indigenous Procurement Teams nationally to increase participation and spend for First Nations Businesses across the country. She also works as a consult to C-Res teams for cultural awareness and inclusion. When asked what inclusion means to her, Kelly said “Inclusion is making sure that everyone, regardless of their background, identity or differences feels welcomed respected and valued. Inclusion goes beyond representation, it’s about fostering a sense of belonging and making sure that everybody from all walks of life can be fully engaged and thrive in each setting, whether it’s a workplace in community or in their own family environment.” “International Women’s Day is a day to honour and appreciate the achievements and challenges not only faced by Indigenous women, but all women globally. This day also raises awareness of the unique struggles Indigenous women encounter and encourages solidarity among them and with non-Indigenous women. Through community events and advocacy, I hope to create a more inclusive and safe space for all women within my workplace and my community.” Kelly brings passion, drive, empathy, and cultural pride to everything that she undertakes, and we thank her for the incredible work she does as an advocate and voice for the Indigenous businesses within the Local Buying Program.
